Food and Wine. What else is there?

Excellent news for Chicagoans who like to eat and drink. Who doesn't?

The amazing ladies of Vella Cafe, just under the Western Blue Line el stop, have finally decided to open for dinner Wed-Sat, and we can only hope their move is richly rewarded. Their yummy food

a seasonal pizza like butternut squash, goat cheese, fresh sage & pinenuts to celebrate fall.

and ecstatic desserts

We'll have a yummy banana cake sundae gelato & home-made hot fudge sauce. Since it is getting chilly out, you can also warm up with a seasonal fruit crisp with Black Dog gelato. (It's never too cold for gelato!)

scream for evenings and a little more time than we usually have for lunch.


And this Sunday, our favorite everyman's wine shop, Cellar Rat in Wicker Park, is having an afternoon of FREE, FREE, FREE wine and cheese pairing/tasting.

Between 1pm and 4, just show up and drink and eat. Beat that! Don't forget to check out their excellent selection of quality wines under $10, which come to think of it would be perfect to take with you to Vella when you go to check out their dinner fare.
