Lounge Ax Retrospective at saki

saki is incredibly thrilled to announce that the Lounge Ax Retrospective will be taking over our space in August.

The retrospective event will take place in TWO PARTS...
Friday, August 10th 7-10pm for the official opening. Catch up and ogle the Lounge Ax archives and artifacts

Saturday, August 11th 4-8pm for a blowout party with live music!

Spend the weekend reliving the memories and mythos of Lounge Ax, a rock club that helped define Chicago as an indie and rock music hub. Having closed its Lincoln Park doors in 2000, Lounge Ax is remembered for the hospitality of co-owners Susan Miller Tweedy and Julia Adams, its nightly rock shows by the likes of  The Coctails, Wilco, Sea & Cake, Tortoise, Poi Dog Pondering, Smog, and so many more, and the requirements that each band take a photobooth strip for the club's archives. Curated by the previous owners and talent buyers of Lounge Ax, Susan Miller Tweedy and Julia Adams (thanks to Susan's incredible archiving), along with saki gallery coordinator Erin Coleman, saki will be transformed into its own version of Lounge Ax - it might have nicer bathrooms and smell better overall, but saki's walls will be lined with posters, set lists, photos, calendars, ticket stubs, and everything we are digging out of the archives. Celebrate a dearly missed community in Chicago by reliving your memories, or better understanding what you missed on, in the shaping of Chicago's rock scene.

In the coming weeks, we will be announcing which bands will be joining us Saturday and other exciting details.

The event is all-ages and FREE

RSVP ON FACEBOOK.
