saki newsletter 2/25/14!

Well, another week in the books! We learned a great deal this week, like how much you guys love Angel Olsen, and that's a very cool thing. Our white vinyl copies and bonus 7"s were gone almost immediately, but you can still pick up Burn Your Fire For No Witness on regular ol' black vinyl, and that's not so bad, is it!?

We get more and more excited each month when the final Friday comes and we get to put on another edition of Freak Happening. This month is no exception. Join us on Friday for Nick Rouley's magnum opus, Werewolves In Space: A Rock Opera. If we've learned one thing in the time we've known Freak Happening's hosts, Nick and Goodrich, it's that they're definitely capable of writing and producing a rock opera about extra terrestrial lycanthropes. That's totally their bag.

Next weekend we're getting back in the in-store game with sets from Sima Cunningham and The Kelson Twins, followed by another one of our favorite comedy shows, Senorita Weiner's! It's going to be fun, fun, fun! We'll see you then!

Greg Ashley - Another Generation of Slaves CD and LP

Greg Ashley (lysergic psych band THE MIRRORS, and highly influential quartet THE GRIS GRIS) is no stranger to recording. This is a bold step off of his acid-soaked artery, the 9 tunes herein are Ashley's most directly poetic suite of songs both melodically and lyrically. Recorded in 2013 with a cadre of jazz musicians, the malleability of his players belies dizzying results, allowing Ashley to focus on communicating the feeling of the tunes in addition to playing them.

Superchunk - Indoor Living (reissue) CD and LP

Remastered reissue includes new liner notes by John Plymale and Laura Balance, plus bonus download of We'd Like to Thank the Homecoming Committee - Live at Duke 1997!

Hey friends, not much to report this week, but we do want to make sure you're aware that it's pretty much unofficial Angel Olsen week around here. You can pick up her new record on limited white vinyl with a bonus 7" (while they last) AND it's 20% off this week only! 

There are no big events this weekend, but come hang out with us if you want to listen to the new St. Vincent, Neneh Cherry or, let's face it, Tusk... it's just a Tusk kind of week around here.
