Double Dip: new work by Liz Born and Gabe Hoare of Hoofprint Workshop
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 7th. 7-10pm. Free.
Double Dip features new work by print-duo Liz Born & Gabe Hoare, co-founders of Hoofprint Workshop--a funeral parlor turned print studio in West Pilsen. Born's woodcuts feature a handful of characters, archetypal and mammalian, confronting themselves during acts of eating, birthing, and self-contemplation. Hoare creates ritual imagery and objects that are both sacred and absurd, affirming belief whilst simultaneously poking fun. "Dip" includes original woodcuts and lithographs as well as recent projects including illustrations, concert posters, and Star Trek portraiture.
Liz Born is a Chicago-based printmaker, curator, and teaching artist with a BFA in Printmedia & Fibers from SAIC. Liz has taught relief, screenprinting, and intaglio at Spudnik Press, The Harrington College of Design, and The Hyde Park Art Center. Her work has been featured at venues including Heaven Gallery, Woman-Made, and the Jane Addams Hull House Museum. Gabe Hoare works primarily in sculptural installation and assemblage, transforming print-based works into interactive environments. He creates ritual objects that are both sacred and silly, affirming belief whilst simultaneously poking fun. After receiving his BFA from the University of Florida, Gabe went on to assist artists at Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop and Tandem Press, including Eddie Martinez, Sam Gilliam, and Suzanne Caporael. His work has been featured at venues including the Milk Factory and Co-prosperity Sphere.
Please join us Saturday, February 7th 7-10pm for the opening of Double Dip, new work by Liz Born and Gabe Hoare. Enjoy a great night of fine art and live music from Marrow, with food and beverages provided by saki. This event is FREE
