We also had a pretty solid week in the used vinyl department. We're still pricing some of our new arrivals, but come out now if you want to snag some solid and well priced wax like the Nuggets comp., Yazoo's Guitar Wizards comp., Radiohead, Mac Demarco, Julia Holter, Pere Ubu, Television, Telex, Broken Social Scene and more! Most of this batch won't last long so don't wait for the weekend if you can help it.
No in-stores this weekend, but we are presenting a very cool bill at Schubas next Monday night! Join us at 8pm for Fenster, Sunjacket and Thin Hymns! Fenster is a Berlin-based dream pop band that we're happy to call our new friends. Their last two LPs Bones and The Pink Caves are definitely worth your time, and we can't wait to see those songs live. They'll be supported by two of our favorite Chicago bands, Sunjacket, featuring our old coworker and vlogcastisode star Tricia Scully on guitar, keys and backing vocals, and Thin Hymns!
Speaking of the vlogcastisode... we don't have one for you this week. We were a little swamped with Record Store Day solicitations (...it's coming...) and extra hours tabling at UP, but we should be back on top of things next week. For now, here's 1:25 of penguins falling down to 'Yakety Sax'. Trust us, it's better than anything we could have made...

This week we're offering Richard Buckner, Sunn O))) and Ulver, and the Dex Romweber Duo for 20% off!
Richard Buckner - Bloomed CD and LP
Reissue of 1994 debut album includes bonus disc w/ radio sessions, live performances and original recordings of songs that appeared on future releases. Pitchfork called it "A traditional outsider-country record in the lineage of Townes Van Zandt. Buckner's voice is all honey and oak, his guitar style elaborately twanging, his constant subject matter heartache."
Sunn O))) and Ulver - Terrestrials LP
Collaboration between two of the most respected avant-metal bands. Three movements which are fluid like the flow of magma beneath the Earth's crust, sonically uninhibited, unpredictably cosmic, haunting and stirring yet simultaneously ceremonious and beautiful.
Dex Romweber Duo - Images 13 LP
Nothing less than an icon of the American music underground, Dex pioneered the template for the stripped-to-the-essentials guitar/drums duo format so often emulated, so rarely duplicated. His latest LP takes listeners through haunted neon-lit alleys full of pulp fiction juvey rock, should-have-been-sci-fi TV theme songs, and greasy denim 50's hipster jive.
