Top 10 Releases of 2009

10. Trentemøller - Harbour Boat Trips 01 One of the best mixes I've heard in a long time...no set genre theme, just a great listen

9. The Field - Yesterday & Today Worth it for the excellent Korgis cover alone. Still at the head of the tech-house pack

8. Pete Namlook & Gabriel Le Mar - S/T Another stellar year of releases from the FAX imprint, with this one getting the most spins in the Boyce household

7. Ducktails - S/T After you get by all the "woo woo" hilarity, one of the best debuts of the year

6. Various Artists - Can You Dig It? Possibly the great collection of Blaxploitation tracks ever...thanks Soul Jazz! Funky as the day is long...

5. Mountains - Choral Not often will you find a Thrill Jockey release given much creed from me, this album is a glorious mind-melter

4. Rameses III - I Could Not Love You More A stacked year for great releases from Type, and this was definitely my pick of the bunch. Perfect for a Sunday morning

3. Various Artists - Warp 20 One of the best electronic-based levels EVER celebrated their birthday in style with the best release since the 4AD "Lonely As An Eyesore" wooden box! Buy it for the book alone...

2. Gas - Nah Und Fern While not strictly new this year, this amazing 4-hour retrospective of Wolfgang Voigt's minimal ambience has been listen to more than any other record this year Chez Boyce.

1. Magda Alice Czerepak the "release" of my beautiful little girl was obviously the highlight of the year. Born to a soundtrack that included Aphex Twin, Gas, Richie Hawtin and Marble Sky, she's now 7 months old and growing too fast. Love you Magda :D
