Man, do I like punk rock. Or I guess you can call it punk rock, or tunes that fall into the "punk" category. After comprising an email to my customers about LPs that I've been digging lately, I decided I should share it on the good ol' blog. LPs are awesome and after the success of Record Store Day, I'd thought I'd share in the hopes that other people would dig it too.
- Rayon Beach: Memory Teeth. (HoZac) Local label HoZac records has impeccable taste in everything punk, psych, and garage. (However in a most recent NPR interview, label owner Todd Killings proved that most of the records he's released is not, in fact "garage rock.") This is an EP from an Austin, TX trio guaranteed to kick your face in while their psych grooves leave you dizzy and confused. http://sakistore.net/product_info.php?products_id=33180
- Home Blitz: Out of Phase. (Richie Records) Home Blitz is a reissued LP by New Jersey one-man band all the back from, er, 2007. I'll try to write my best description here, but instead I'll just take the quote from Dusted Mag: "Playful without being self-aware, confident without getting comfortable, & far too odd to cross over, HOME BLITZ is the real thing...never precious, always epic". Also check out the newest LP from So Cow, a similar artist from Ireland. http://sakistore.net/product_info.php?products_id=33569.
- Crispy Ambulance: Plateau Phase. (Drastic Plastic) Just when I thought I knew about every UK post-punk group from the early 80's, another full length from another band gets reissued. Originally released in 1982. Full of complex, yet minimalistic strings heavily influenced by Brian Eno, Popul Vuh and Joy Division. http://sakistore.net/product_info.php?products_id=32167
