Ever heard of Eddie South? Nope, me neither, but this little Chicago Reader blurb about the jazz violinist is pretty enlightening... Apparently, he's "The Dark Angel of the Violin" and he's from Chicago. Me, I'm just a sucker for anyone who has recorded with Django Reinhardt.
On a side note: Anyone ever seen the Wood Allen movie Sweet and Lowdown? It has the best Django Reinhardt jokes in cinematic history - maybe the only Django Reinhardt jokes in cinematic history...
