saki invites Simon Gallo to display his memories of adolescence on the walls of Logan Square’s newest record store, gallery, and performance space. A native of Oak Park, Gallo’s exhibition will be available for viewing throughout the month of September. The exhibit opens on September 10th and will include a selection of vibrant work in acrylic, pencil, watercolor, and screen print
Gallo’s work frequently displays a deceptively childlike simplicity mingling with complex colors and peculiar beasts. Take a trip back to a time when we were all sure to grow up to be astronauts and cowboys, when monsters lived in our closets, and when superheroes routinely saved the world from impending doom. Gallo’s scope helps us flashback to the feeling of sheer bliss we had at recess.
