Colossal Animals Roam the Earth at saki!

Opening Friday, Oct. 8th from 6-8pm at saki!
Hors d'oeuvres and cool beverages will be provided.

Dan Grzeca is an artist and printmaker from Chicago. Over the past fifteen years he has made screen printed posters for musicians and bands ranging from Chicago improvised music stalwart Ken Vandermark to Phish, Peter Brötzmann, The Jesus Lizard, The Fall, The Black Keys, Low, Melvins, and a hundred more.

Dan's approach to screen printing is painterly and analog. Drawings are generally made on scratchboard with ink and crayon. Color separations are also hand-crafted. Computer design programs simply aren't allowed within 100 yards of his studio.

Along with music posters, Dan continually churns out a series of art prints that subtly address the footprint people have made on the planet. Namely, people aren't in the prints very much. The populace is contained to animal and house forms, usually animated, sometimes made of wood and brick and metal.

This special show at saki will highlight diverse selections from the last year of artist editions that have been published out of Dan's studio, Ground-Up. You can view examples of Dan's work at Dangrzecaart.blogspot.com
