Copyright Basics: An Overview Lecture of Copyright Laws by Cara Dehnert Huffman
Tuesday, February 7th, 7pm at saki
We've teamed up with I Am Logan Square to present our first collaborative lecture at saki. IALS's Cara Dehnert Huffman will be leading a discussion entitled "Copyright Basics: An Overview of Copyright Laws.”
Knowing your rights and the rights of others in the arts industries can be complicated and unclear to those with no law background. Though they may seem incomprehensible at times, these laws are here to protect the rights of performers and their intellectual property. Huffman will explain, in layman's terms, the basics of copyright law and participate in an open Q & A session, to allow curious creators to get all of their confusions, questions, and concerns clarified!
Huffman is a lawyer, avid art admirer, and executive director of I Am Logan Square. Along with earning her law degree from the University of Kansas, Cara graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma and Master of Art Management from Columbia College Chicago. Prior to her position with I Am Logan Square, she worked with Lawyers for the Creative Arts, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and the Illinois Arts Council. Additionally, Cara teaches Writing for Managers and Entertainment Law courses in the Arts, Entertainment and Media Management Department at Columbia College Chicago.
We look forward to promoting education and knowledge-sharing amongst members of the Chicago arts community!
