If you're still trying to digest Demdike Stare's brilliant "Elemental" series, we understand -- it's a daunting task. But if you're like us, and can't get enough of their dark brilliance, you might want to investigate Miles Whittaker's 2nd release as Suum Cuique on Modern Love entitled "Ascetic Ideals". This release manages to row the boat even farther out, so to speak -- if anything this brings to mind some of Mika Vainio's recent material; harsh and brutal, and unremittingly bleak at times. Still, it's utterly compelling listening, and it's shaping up to be another jewel in the crown for a label that is unquestionably one of the best around.
This album is intense! It keeps me locked in from start to finish, just like any Demdike release. Demdike Stare are masters of sound. This is a must have vinyl release! Make sure to check out worker 18 on the back cover... Great photo
