Mount Kimbie - Cold Spring Fault Less Youth CD (LP out 6/25)

Steps away - only slightly - from their acclaimed debut 'Crooks and Lovers' and places live instrumentation alongside the electronics, with organ and drums enriching the sonic mulch. There are vocals too, enabling a step into a new emotional approach.

Justin Walter - Lullabies and Nightmares CD and LP

Debut album from trumpet player from NOMO. Walter spent time exploring the Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI). Building on the loops and textures of the EVI, the album incorporates phasing patterns, the occasional motorik churn of dubbed out drums and considerate passages of trumpet improvisation, calling on Walter's years of experience as an improviser. Longer pieces are bridged by truncated interludes, wandering between modes that are by turns spooky, restless and sublime.
