saki newsletter 11/5/13 (now with more vlogcastisode)!

Hello newsletter-ites! We had another great weekend at the shop. This one truly reminded us why we do what we do. On Saturday, we had the opening reception for Nathan Vernau's art show, Figure Out, featuring a live set from Nathan, and from his friend, Mawrcrest! You've got until the end of the month to come check out Nathan's collage/drawings. They're truly amazing, and hey, they're for sale if you want to take one home with you!

Sunday was the culmination of a few years of us begging Bottomless Pit to come play at saki. It finally happened! As part of our monthly Off The Record listening party series the band played a live set featuring all of their new record, Shade Perennial, and an amazing Jason Molina cover to end the night!

We'd like to thank everyone who came out for both, or either of those events, as well as Bottomless Pit, Comedy Minus One, Stephen Sowley, Provenance Food and Wine, Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Nathan Vernau and Mawrcrest!

We've also got a fun new feature to the weekly newsletter to show you! Starting this week, we're going to post a short video newsletter each week to recap what went down the previous week, and to tell you a little more about what's coming up this week! We're calling it the saki vlogcastisode (because we couldn't come up with anything better).

It's another way to hear about our weekly new release sale, and even hear a few tracks from featured artists. It's also a nice way to get to know the lovable goofballs who work in our store. We're not really camera-ready yet, and we're just learning how to edit video, but here goes - our first misguided attempt at internet stardom:

** Just to make it very clear: The World Is... in-store has been moved up to 2pm with Sooper Swag Project opening and World Is playing around 3. That's a last minute time change. We apologize! **

What do you think of the vlogcastisode!? Do you want to see more? We had fun doing it so you'll probably see more either way, but let us know what you think!
