saki newsletter 10/7/14!

Hellllllo, we hope you're ready for a real week among weeks! We've got a lot going on so here's the rundown. On Wednesday we have the return of Important Records, our occasional live podcast series with Brandon Wetherbee (of You Me Them Everybody/Brightest Young Things). This time around we'll have Brandon and Rock Falls talking about/playing songs from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!, Joshua Dumas and Seth Vanek on The Flaming Lips' The Soft Bulletin, Emerson Dameron and Jim Cooper (ex-Baby Teeth, Bobby Conn Band) on Swans' Drainland. As always, the show will be recorded for an episode of the You Me Them Everybody podcast so you can relive it over and over again on your way to work!

Adam Hanson's opening reception is on Friday. Haute and Bauthered is inspired by the bizarre world of cult cinema. Hanson illustrates pulp seductresses armed to the teeth, each print embellished with his trademark combination of refined cartoon aesthetic, found imagery, and a palette of bold colors. The show is being hung this week, so even we don't know how it's going to look yet, but from what we've seen so far we're in for a real good one! Come check it out!

Then, on Saturday, we have an in-store with Cincinatti's Orchards and locals, Mawrcrest. Orchards are fresh out of the studio with Shiraz from Maps and Atlases and they'll be playing songs from their upcoming record. Mawrcrest are no strangers to saki. If you haven't seen them before, here's yet another chance!

Spotify listening station:

These days record stores don't get a ton of promos from bands and labels like the good ol' days, but we know that you still want a chance to listen to a lot of things before you make the decision to buy. To help you out with that we've created a Spotify Listening Station in the store. Sounds fancy, right? It's not. We just bought a burner phone that has WiFi and we created a Spotify account for the store.

If you find yourself flipping through the racks and you realize that you'd like to listen to something before you buy it, just ask at the counter and we'll pull out some headphones and Burnice (that's what we named our burner phone) so you can have a listen!
