saki newsletter 11/4/14!

So. Much. Candy. Ugh.... but enough about US. How are you guys doing!? Speaking of candy, we've still got about 10 lbs of it laying around behind the counter. PLEASE come take it. So, Halloween was fun, but we're ramping up for a big November now! We will, of course, be stocking Record Store Day Black Friday titles when the time comes, but in the meantime we've got two in-stores coming up that we're very excited about.

First, on Saturday the 15th we've got J Fernandez in the shop, celebrating the release of their new record. Stop by for a live set with support TBA and pick up a copy!

Then, on Saturday the 22nd we're welcoming back the local hip-hop group Onsoru (formerly known as Terra 5). They're performing along with Blaise B., Luis Mendez, and a DJ set by Jezi The Dishwasha.

You also have until the 15th to come check out Adam Hanson's artwork before he takes it down to make room for Bill Connors' show, coming up in December! Do yourself a favor and follow @BillConnors on Instagram right now. The guy is amazing...

Here are a few other things that went down this past week, according to our Instagram (@sakistore), in case you missed it!

It was a good week for new arrivals and restocks!
The Woo reissue and La Ciudad Secreta are the
two new arrivals you've GOTTA here!
We took our Halloween costumes very seriously! Adam
dressed up as Wilson from Home Improvement and
recommended Mississippi's Mayan folk music comp.
because that's what Wilson WOULD like.
After a slight delay we got copies of The Lonesome
Crowded West in stock. We're now sold out of This Is A
Long Drive...,  but we expect restocks soon!
We picked a few spooky Halloween picks right off the
racks! Most of these are still in stock and they're still
good, even after Halloween!
The latest Pitchfork Review came out this week! We've
been loving Pitchforks venture into print media and
Issue 4 needsa little love. It just wants to be held!

That's about it for now. Make sure you keep scrolling down for new releases, our weekly 20% off staff pick sale, and info on our available guest list spots and free shows for customers!

Spotify listening station:

These days record stores don't get a ton of promos from bands and labels like the good ol' days, but we know that you still want a chance to listen to a lot of things before you make the decision to buy. To help you out with that we've created a Spotify Listening Station in the store. Sounds fancy, right? It's not. We just bought a burner phone that has WiFi and we created a Spotify account for the store.

If you find yourself flipping through the racks and you realize that you'd like to listen to something before you buy it, just ask at the counter and we'll pull out some headphones and Burnice (that's what we named our burner phone) so you can have a listen!
