saki newsletter 1/13/15!

Thanks to John Bailey, Dumpster Babies, Harebrain, and everyone who came out this past Friday for the opening reception of 'Nanodeath!' We had a great time and we hope you did too. The show is up for the month, so come check it out. John has a TON of reasonably priced prints and drawings so we can almost guarantee you'll find something you'll like - that is, assuming you like starry prints of Mr. T's face with the Slayer logo below it... I know I do!

This week we've got two really fun events for you. On Thursday night our friends in Dastardly are hosting a listening party for their new album. Come hang out, BYOB, listen to the album, and join us in coaxing Gabe into taking his shirt off and singing 'My Way.'

We also just added an in-store this Saturday with Regular Fucked Up People and Boring People. They're releasing a split 7" on Already Dead tapes. Come see the bands and pick up a copy of the 7"!

Panda Bear's new album is out this week and we've got some sweet posters and prints to give away with purchase!

One last thing... since it's Tomorrow Never Knows week here in Chicago, we're offering 20% off on any bands playing TNK this year! We've got a few of them on our 20% off rack, but we'll give you the discount on any of the TNK bands that we have in stock. Just ask! Don't forget, we still have tickets to give away for these TNK shows (at the time of this post):

1/15 Grifters and J Fernandez at Lincoln Hall
1/15 Protomartyr and Spider Bags at Schubas
1/17 Strand of Oaks and Kevin Morby at Lincoln Hall
1/17 Jukebox The Ghost at Metro
1/18 Twin Peaks at Metro
1/18 The Family Crest at Schubas
1/18 ProbCause at Lincoln Hall

Here are a few things we were posting about on Instagram this past week:

Dumpster Babies and Harebrain played John Bailey's
opening reception! We have both of their albums in
stock and they're highly recommended!

John Bailey hanging his show 'Nanodeath.'

Chicago Psych Fest is coming up at the end of the month
and we've got tickets to give away! Stop in for details.

Bill Connors' show is down now, but we held onto a
few of his prints. You can find them in our poster rack!

A lot of upcoming shows are no longer eligible, but it never hurts to ask. Stop in or give us a call! Keep an eye out for announcements for eligible Metro and Bottom Lounge shows too!

Spotify listening station:

These days record stores don't get a ton of promos from labels like the good ol' days, but we know that you still want a chance to listen to a lot of things before you make the decision to buy. To help you out with that we've created a Spotify Listening Station in the store. Sounds fancy, right? It's not. We just bought a burner phone and put literally nothing on it but the Spotify app!

If you find yourself flipping through the racks and you realize that you'd like to listen to something before you buy it, just ask at the counter and we'll pull out some headphones and Burnice (that's what we named our burner phone) so you can have a listen!
