saki newsletter 2/10/15!

Do you suffer from head coldness? Are you tired of wearing hats that don't say "saki" on them or have a big pom on top? Well, we have good news! Now you can buy one of these toasty babies...

They don't just look great, but they also come with a discount! Just like our shirts and totes, you can wear your hat when you shop in the store and we'll give you 5% off your entire purchase (artwork excluded). Don't delay! Act now!

Terrible sales pitches aside, we had a pretty great week! Nick Fisher installed his artwork and it is, of course, freakin' awesome. Come out on Friday for the opening reception with food from Flying Saucer and a live set by Lamp. Not only has Nick done a lot to beautify our little part of the city, but he's also the nicest man alive, so let's all come out and support him, ok!? Good.

We'd also like to extend a big ol' thanks to Homeroom and all the other folks who came out for Pal-entine's Day this weekend at The Nightingale. The saki staff participated in a game of Friendly Feud with teams from CHIRP, Circle Salon and The Nightingale where we begrudgingly had to refer to vinyl records as an 'outdated method for listening to music.' It was rough, but we did it for the win. We didn't actually win - we came in second - but we had a blast and we taught everyone a little lesson about the art of the The Steal. Thanks, Homeroom!

Here's a few other things we were talking about this week...

We now have classic album art jigsaw puzzles!

A few choice gems that just came in, or were restocked!

Nick Fisher made a huge saki painting for us. What a guy!

The new Mt. Eerie, and Phil Elverum's photo book both
arrived this week! Both are highly recommended. Sauna
is some of his best stuff ever!

We still have 7"s to go with purchase of the new Twerps!

This is like, the 4-way split 7" of the year, man.
Upcoming events:

Staff picks of the week:

Jakes's pick: Benjamin Booker - S/T
A blues-garage-punk romp that grabs hold with the first
track and refuses to let go until the last. It's an easy listen
for sure, but with plenty of jitter and raw emotion from
Booker that it manages to stay a personal record.

Adam's pick: Posse - Soft Opening
Soft Opening is like the laid-back buddy you want to drink
with at a dive bar on a weeknight, except, you know, it's a
record and you probably just have to listen to it at home.

Ticket giveaways:

Buy a release from any band playing an upcoming Empty Bottle, Schubas or Lincoln Hall show and we can add you to the guest list. Stop in or give us a call! Keep an eye out for announcements for eligible Metro and Bottom Lounge shows too!
