Adam's Pick of the Week: Al Green - The Belle Album

Holy Moly, this is some feel-good music! This is Al Green's first album without the Hi Rhythm Section and producer Willie Mitchell, and the first time Al would play lead guitar on one of his records.

It's also the last of Al's 70's secular albums, although much of the Belle Album is pretty clearly about The Lord. Lest the religious lyrical content scare you off, just know that this album is groovy as hell. Al is in top form and doing just fine on his own in the studio.

There's good reason that this is called The Belle Album. The opening tracks sets the tone so well that it really couldn't have been called anything else. Throw it on, feel good, that is all.
