I was alphabetizing the various artists section and I decided to check out a few of the titles I wasn't familiar with. This is a collection of music from South Africa (side a) and India (side B) during the 40s and 50s, and how they blended their music with western music of the time: jazz and blues. The Zulu records are a more outright mixing of influences, but the Calcuta tracks are based more around performing artists doing their versions of "melancholy baby" and "Chattanooga Choo Choo." A perfect buy for anyone interested in midcentury music and it's ripple effect globally.
