A front-runner for compilation of the year, Constellation's exquisite new box set compiling all of the Tindersticks' scores for filmmaker Claire Denis is as enthralling and beguiling to listen to as the filmmaker's movies are to watch. If you haven't seen any of the French auteur's films (or listened to the Tindersticks, for that matter) you really must, as "L'Intrus" and "Beau Travail" are among the finest examples of pure cinema I've seen in the last decade, and Stuart Staples' score for her "Trouble Every Day" (included here) is one of the most powerful and original scores I've ever heard.
