Hello again, folks! It's that time of the week again... time for the saki newsletter! We'd like to thank Seluah, Circuit Des Yeux & Sea Hero for playing at The Burlington this weekend. We had a great time!
This Friday we're hosting a fundraiser at saki Hurricane Sandy victims. Joe McAdam, who produces and hosts are monthly comedy/variety show, Creative Control, is also producing this show. Some of his family members who live in the NY/NJ area have been completely displaced by flooding. Joe asked for our help to raise some money to get them back on there feet and we couldn't say no. We'll have a bunch of great Chicago comics and music from Gabe Liebowitz of Dastardly, as well as a whole bunch of auction/raffle prizes to give away. Please come and enjoy the show and donate some money to a very worthy cause! If you can't makie it, but you would still like to donate, you can do so by going to Joe McAdam's site and clicking on the PayPal link!
Our next event after the fundraiser is, not so oddly enough, Creative Control with Joe McAdam on the 30th! This month we've got a bunch of other Chicago comics, and one former Chicagoan visiting from LA, along with music from Oshwa! If you haven't been to Creative Control yet, you're missing out! It's one of the best comedy showcases in Chicago. This month we also have our friends from Powell Brew House coming out to pour some of their delicious homebrewed beer for you! If you don't like homebrew you can still BYOB, but if you don't like homebrew, what are you doing in my country? Get out!

Legend Don Howland's latest musical address from his mountain compaound, an exhilarating blast of oppressive fear & hopelessness. W/ beloved bands like the GIBSON BROS & BASSHOLES, Howland spent over 25 years on the fringed, preaching his misanthropic sermons to a loud but minimalist blend of blues, garage, noise, lo-fi, & whatever else served his muse. Ltd to 500

Never before available digitally, since it's initial release on CD in 2001, "Resuscitation"'s combination of crisp beats, squelch-laden synths & Nicola Kuperus' detached monotone sounded like a broadcast from the future, steeped in the analog synth sounds of forebears like Kraftwerk but possessed of an ultramodern sheen all its own. NO EXPORT OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA
This instrumental rock dup belons to the beyond-category sector of such iconic, genre-floating combos as John Zorn's Naked City, Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, Swans, Tortoise, & Sun City Girls. Wicked percision is combined w/ intense abandon, droll humor w/ analytical construction, & a sly gregariousness w/ uncompromising vision. Ltd to 500 gatefold packaging

**EXCLUSIVE!! 11/20 STREET DATE. VINYL VERSION comes with gratis download. Bowles' recent focus on the 5-string openback banjo's possibilities is on full display here: bowed & drummed textures, clawhammer boogie, & banjo soli sidewinding are all explored.
**EXCLUSIVE!! 11/20 STREET DATE. NOTE NEW PRICE. VINYL REISSUE of Crass' 5th album comes in original fold-out poster sleeve. Originally released in April '83, "Yes Sir, I Will" was a howl full of vicious rage & fury, a scream of sorrow, a bitter requiem of betrayal & disenfranchisement. It was a letter-bomb of accusations directed at the British establishment. Musically the work is as diverse & challenging as Crass had yet delivered - a raging & almost free-form improvised backdrop over which Ignorant, Libertine & DeVivre trade off vocally throughout - veering from ferocious roars & rants to piano ballad interludes sung by Rimbaud. NO EXPORT OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA
Eno expands upon the types of themes & sonic textures that were present on such classic albums as Music For Films, Music For Airports & Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks.
