Ohhhhh snap! Did you guys read Gossip Wolf and BV Chicago this week!? Two really important bits of info there... First, Owen (Mike Kinsella) is playing our Off The Record event for July! Join us on July 6th at noon to hear Owen play L'Ami du Peuple all the way through in a solo acoustic setting! The record is out July 2nd on Polyvinyl. Second, we've got one of our favorite bands playing an Epitonic saki Session on July 12th! Come just released a deluxe version of Eleven:Eleven last month and they're playing the Bottle that night in support of it. We'll have them playing here around 4pm, with Adam Reach DJing beforehand. The whole thing starts at 3pm! Now, listen, we don't want to downplay all the other things we've got going on, but let's be real, that's the big stuff!
About all that other stuff... we've got Hospital Ships and Suns coming in for an Epitonic saki Session this Thursday at 6pm! Hospital Ships come from the weirdo-pop land of Graveface Records, but their sound is much more introspective and personal. That's not to say there aren't flourishes of label mates like Lava Children, Dreamend and Black Moth Super Rainbow though. We've been digging their new record Destruction In Yr Soul for the past few weeks and we highly recommend you come check them out! Locals, Suns will be opening at 6!
Friday night we have this month's Creative Control with Joe McAdam. What else can we say about this show. It's the FREAKIN' BEST. You will laugh a lot if you come. This month's show will be starting much earlier, at 7pm, because many of the performers need to get to another show later in the night. Come early and don't miss a thing!
We've also got the opening reception for July's artist happening on July 5th. We know you've all got cookouts and things to blow up, but checking out Mat Daly's work at saki will be a nice respite. We promise. Mat's friends (and ours) Nick Butcher and Jordan Martins will be playing music for the event!
