saki newsletter 7/16/13!

Hooooooly crap, are you guys OK? That was a crazy weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out for Mike Sheehan's 'A Fine Lineup,' Come, Speedy Ortiz and The New Diet, Reggie Watts, and MOTO with Mike Felten! That was by far the best and craziest weekend we've ever hosted!

Did you guys think Reggie Watts wasn't going to show up? We were a little worried... but then he DID and he played for OVER AN HOUR. WHAT!? Send us your pictures and/or videos if you've got them. We want to relive that!

This weekend is equally crazy, but it's not happening AT saki (for the most part). We'll be selling at the Pitchfork Music Festival in the CHIRP Record Fair tent! We do have one in-store this weekend though - on Friday night, Matt Christensen will be playing an intimate live show with Brian Harding and Matt Zumann! So, anyone who doesn't want to join us at Pitchfork can come by the store for that one at 8pm.

The following week we've got another Once In A Lifetime event at Lincoln Hall with Everything Is Terrible and some of Chicago's finest stand up comics. This time they'll be making fun of some other terrible Lifetime movie. This one has Tori Spelling in it so you know it's really bad! Later that week we have the very last Creative Control ever! We can't believe it, but our dear boy, Joe is moving to that cesspool on the West Coast and we have to say goodbye forever. On the plus side, you KNOW the last  Creative Control is going to be crazy good. We've got the lineup on the Facebook event, but there are sure to be some unannounced surprises too!

In August we've got another Off The Record and a new art show opening with Kirstie Shanley! We'll give you more details on all that later, but most of it is in those Facebook events already. Basically, Kirstie is a super-talented local photographer who had an amazing collection of live music photography and Lazy is a badass band from Kansas City who are on the always awesome and criminally underrated local label, Moniker Records. You won't want to miss any of those things we mentioned above. Come to all of it!!
