Adam's Pick of the Week: Radiator Hospital - Something Wild

Something Wild (2013) carries the spirit of Radiator Hospital's earlier bedroom recordings, but it ups the production game just slightly. They've taken that a step further on their most recent release, Torch Song, which is their most cohesive and well recorded release to date, but Something Wild has the highlights that really stand out in the band's catalog for me.

"Our Song" is maybe the most truthful breakup song ever set to a bouncy pop-punk rhythm, and their cover of Gene Thomas' (by way of Flamin' Groovies) "Sometimes" is faithful to the original, but still a surprisingly refreshing update. All in all, this record seems a little bit thrown together, but each song stands on its own well enough that it doesn't matter.

Fans of Swearin', Waxahatchee, Quarterbacks, or anything in the Salinas Records catalog probably don't need to be told this, but this one is up that alley for sure.
