ESMB push the boundaries of two-piece punk. On their 2012 debut Schrader and bassist Devlin Rice have created an array of moods, blasting from snarling noise to subdued, primal indie-pop, and just about anywhere in between.
What really sets them apart, aside from their sonic adventurism, is the band's obvious sense of humor. Schrader is a member of the Balitmore-based comedy collective, Wham City, and his comedic sensibilities shine through his music.
It's an odd mix to be sure, but a sterling comedic sense, and diverse, challenging musical ideas will always be a winner in my book.
