saki newsletter 3/17/15!

Not too much to report this week, other than what you'll read below here... We celebrated Dick Diver Day instead of Pi Day or St. Puketrick's Day, and we basically just enjoyed the garsh dang weather, ya know??

This week we're just getting in the last of our RSD orders, so stay tuned as items begin to arrive in stock and we announce details for our RSD festivities. You already know by now, but it's gonna be a blast!

If anyone is interested in shaking their tail feather with us at Slippery Slope Wednesday night, Nick and Adam will be there playing a mix of mostly funk and soul, garage and power-pop for your listening and jiggling pleasure. Come say hi!

Keep on reading for other info, including staff picks, the weekly 20% off new release sale, ticket giveaways and new releases!

We celebrated Dick Diver Day - a holiday we made up to celebrate the awesome new Dick Diver LP on Trouble In Mind. It's way better than anything else people celebrated last week.

Natalie Prass finally showed up on vinyl!

We found some tasty little nugs while alphabetizing the used vinyl section. We're always amazed at what people are NOT buying from over there...

Gilda and Bill T's are back in stock with a full run of sizes!

Nick and Adam are DJing at Slippery Slope for Record Store Night tomorrow (Wednesday)!

We have tickets to see Sir Richard Bishop at Constellation! They're yours with purchase of Tangier Sessions!

Saki hats are cool AND they keep your head warm.

20% off this week:

This week's 20% off picks came straight from our staff picks section! If you trust our taste, then you know they're good.

Staff picks of the week:

Adam's Pick of the Week: Ed Schrader's Music Beat - Jazz Mind

ESMB push the boundaries of two-piece punk. On their 2012 debut Schrader and bassist Devlin Rice have created an array of moods, blasting from snarling noise to subdued, primal indie-pop, and just about anywhere in between. What really sets them apart, aside from their sonic adventurism, is the band's obvious sense of humor. Schrader is a member of the Balitmore-based comedy collective, Wham City, and his comedic sensibilities shine through his music. It's an odd mix to be sure, but a sterling comedic sense, and diverse, challenging musical ideas will always be a winner in my book.

Ticket giveaways:

Buy a release from any band playing an upcoming Empty Bottle, Schubas or Lincoln Hall show and we can add you to the guest list. Stop in or give us a call! Keep an eye out for announcements for eligible Metro and Bottom Lounge shows too!
