Guy Kawasaki's 14 Great Ways to Use Evernote
Guy Kawasaki, the original Apple Evangelist, is a smart d00d. I do my best to keep up with what he's thinking.
He recently posted his 14 things he does in Evernote. I'm already doing many of these, but there are a few great ideas on here that I'm definitely going to adopt, like tracking expenses. Thanks Guy!
On a related note, the almost equally cool voice memo parser cum life organizer, reQall, now links up to your Evernote tags in pretty cool ways. That feature's a paid feature, but there's plenty on this free application to make your life a happier place to inhabit.

A new movie by young and engaging filmmaker Eileen Yaghoobian about the underground poster culture in North America. If you've ever ripped an awesome poster off the wall of your favorite rock dump and guarded it with your life until you could safely deposit it back at your apartment, then this movie is for you.Captivating artifact of an era.— Ward Sutton, Village Voice

These aren't listed for sale on the Root Strata site yet, but they will have them at this weekend's On Land Festival, hosted at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco. I'm very, VERY bummed I won't be in attendance. What a lineup.

ALIEN: The Director's Cut @ The Music Box in Chicago
ALIEN: The Director's Cut

New 35mm Print! DTS Sound!
Edit 9/16: NOT! This is a bad print and we had to leave early because of it!
The first part is horribly scarred, and it never came into focus no matter how hard they tried. I got motion sickness from it and we had to leave right about the time the little baby Jesus was born. They did give us passes for a future show.
Rent it!
"4 STARS! Still vibrates with a dark and frightening intensity.” —Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Director Ridley Scott's breakthough film, an immensely successful blend of horror and science fiction, is a classic in both genres and spawned a host of sequels and imitators. Starring Sigourney Weaver as warrant officer Ellen Ripley, ALIEN focuses on the crew of the space cargo ship Nostromo, which lands on a moribund planet in response to a faint SOS.

More Future Ideas
It is typical of me to bring ideas to this forum and suggest that the reader be the one to carry those ideas out. "I am a dreamer," I say, "and I give you the fruit of my dreams which bear the seeds of change within them. Take the fruit, eat it, and then extract the seeds for planting. When you have planted them, making sure to do so in the fertile soil of mankind's ambition, nurture them with the water of faith and determination. Maybe add some monetary fertilizer, then wait and watch as the seeds grow into the flowers of Future." That is usually how these things go.
Today, I have a different story to tell. Today I bring you news of accomplishment; this time, the dreamer is the doer, and he asks no man to take the reigns of labor but himself.

Caitlin's Tiger Beat moment of the week
OMG!! Fresh off a crazy three day weekend I was ecstatic to receive my promo for the new Sondre Lerche album. "Heartbeat Radio" out in stores today.
Now, I consider myself a pretty big music nerd. Sure, there are musicians that I admire and think are attractive. Though usually it's their music that I'm most attracted to. I never understood the whole 1960's screaming girl deal - I can't hear the music when you're screaming so loud! Pipe down, harpies!
...I think I get it with Sondre. I scream on the inside for this skinny Norwegian.
First signed to a major label at 16, this is Sondre's 6th release. It's lovely singer/songwriter goodness evoking the spirit of Elvis Costello, Burt Bacharach along w/ some Bossa Nova as well.
Playing at Schubas in Chicago on 9/19.
Just look at 'em - If I was a better designer I would draw little hearts around this picture. CL + SL = <3

New White Rainbow trance flow

Thanks to Arthur, a 38 minute trance flow called "Bumper Up Raw" is available for streaming/download here.
White Rainbows "New Clouds" will be released on CD/2LP October 20th on Kranky. It completely blows away his last album, "Prism of Eternal Now" which earned the #1 spot on my Top 10 list from 2007. So yeah, it pretty much rules.

Still Yummy

It takes me two days to eat a Kuma's burger but damn it is still delicious the second day! I went with the YOB: bacon, red peppers, smoked gouda with garlic mayo.... mmmmmm
The wait wasn't as long, Monday at noon is the time to go but the food took awhile to exit the tiny kitchen and make it to my bar stool. Totally worth it.
Competition Time!!
Thanks for everyone who came out and had fun at the 2nd CTD DJ night last night...a good time had by all I believe, and some stellar selections of music too.
as promised, I'm now running a little competition based on my set last night...and the prize is any album of your choosing from the vast CTD catalog.
what you need to do to win said prize is to work out the connection between the records in my set, listed below, and also tell me the odd record out.
simple, right?
here's the set:
Crazy Penis - There's A Better Place!
Dinosaur Jr - Just Like Heaven
Sonic Youth - Beat On The Brat
Merry Clayton - Gimme Shelter
Joe Bataan - The Bottle
Jesus & Mary Chain - Vegetable Man
Butthole Surfers - Hurdy Gurdy Man
A Million Sons - Misty Blue (Schmoov Mix)
The KLF - Elvis on The Radio, Steel Guitar In My Soul
Sergio Mendes & Brazil 77 - Superstition
The JAMS - Downtown
Scala - Heart Of Glass
The Orb - Huge Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Center Of The Ultraworld
Ciccone Youth - Addicted To Love
Cud - You Sexy Thing
De La Soul - Say No Go
Laibach - Across The Universe
Lard - They're Coming To Take Me Away
one little tip for you all...it's NOT that they are all in one way or another a cover of someone else's songs...that would be too easy :)
send your answers to me at pete@ctdltd.com
Good Luck!
