Ovlov/Radiator Hospital/Krill/LVL UP split 7" now in stock!

Oh, helllllllll yes. Double Double Whammy just dropped off this amazing 4-way split 7" with Krill, LVL UP, Ovlov and Radiator Hospital!

Ovlov is also featured on a recent 4-way split 12" with Ex-Breathers, Woozy (who played at saki last year), and Gnarwhal. We highly recommend that one as well.

Adam's Pick of the Week!

Wolfmoon, a.k.a. Little Tommy, a.k.a Tyrone Thomas was a protegé of the mighty Swamp Dogg. This is the only album he cut under the name Wolfmoon and it's a doozy.

In some ways, this is Swamp Dogg-lite, but Thomas holds his own as a singer and drummer even though half of these songs are covers and the rest were penned by Swamp Dogg himself. Either way, Wolf's covers of 'People Get Ready' and 'If I Had A Hammer' rank up there with the best and the originals on here stand up to anything Swamp ever did on his own.

This one was a true rarity for years until it's reissue on Alive a few years back. You can and should pick it up at saki right now! Even if you don't care for the outsider soul found in the grooves, that cover art alone is worth the price.

saki Newsletter 01/20/2015

What a week! In addition to what passes for warm weather this time of year, we also had two crazy fun events with our Dastardly listening party and a split 7" release show for Regular Fucked Up People and Boring People. Dastardly's new album is not available yet, so if you didn't come you missed a chance to hear it WAY in advance, but the RFUP/BP 7" is for sale now! We highly recommend picking one up and checking out the other stuff that Already Dead has to offer.

We're also worn out this week from all those TNK shows! Protomartyr and Alvvays were our favorites. We all owe a huge thanks to Schubas, Lincoln Hall and Metro for providing free tickets for you guys as well. What a bunch of sweetie pies!

This week's new release lineup is STACKED. We're extremely excited about Universal Togetherness Band, the new Cloakroom, the Posse repress, all the Back From The Grave comps on vinyl, and of course, Sleater-Kinney's triumphant return! It's gonna be a good week for our ears.

Here's a few things we shared on Instagram and the blog this week:

Our employee, Nick Rouley, opened for Eddie Pepitone
at Lincoln Hall. That's Eddie, not Nick, but the
resemblance is striking.
We have tickets for Oshwa and Lifted Bells at Beat
Kitchen to give away!
We also have tickets for each day of Chicago Psych
Fest at The Hideout!
Regular Fucked Up People were incredible in the
shop on Saturday!
A few of our favorites from John Bailey's show, hanging
until the end of the month! Come check it out.
We had a whole day of nothing but tapes in the store!
The reissue of the year! Currently out of stock, but more
are on the way.
saki totes are back! Use it when you shop at saki for
5% off your purchase.

Eddie Pepitone and Our Own Nick Rouley at Lincoln Hall

On an exceedingly cold Thursday night last week, about two hundred people huddled together in a seated Lincoln Hall for an evening of unforgettable comedy by the legendary Eddie Pepitone. Nick Rouley, who hosts our own monthly comedy spectacular, Freak Happening, landed the prime opening spot for Eddie and got to do almost twenty minutes. What a treat for us, and I'm sure for Nick.

Eddie was just Eddie, which is to say, nobody else does comedy like this. He did some material from his most recent special, worked in some new stuff, and just riffed when there was an opening to do so. I'm not really sure how to describe his work if you haven't seen it, except to say that it sort of starts off at the existential void created by Western consumerism and then takes off from there. What a ride.

Here's a little slideshow of my pics from the night. You can click through the whole set here below,

or if you want larger shots, go directly to the Flickr set in another window, here.
