Fug Comics exhibition is only up until Saturday! Not much longer to come and snag these comic-oriented prints from FugScreens!

Though it is always a bummer when stuff comes off the wall, we are so excited to put up Jordan Martins's show Dysgraphia. Above is a sneak peek of the show.

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 6, 6-9pm. Free.
DJ set from: Nick Butcher (Sonnenzimmer, Home Tapes)

Dysgraphia is a project based on Jordan Martins’s interest in the Chicago-specific tradition of hand-painted, block-letter grocery signs which have come to be associated with Hispanic markets. By exaggerating the expressive colors and gestural rhythms of the original signs, Martins aims to build patters that simultaneously attract (fluorescent colors, bold shapes) and conceal (by undermining legibility). In this sense they are related both to natural camouflage and bright plumage used by animals to attract mates, or broader notions of visual stimuli to affect or sculpt behavior. This project began as a series of storefront installations.

saki is thrilled to present "Fug Comics," an exhibition of FugScreens comic-oriented prints.

"Fug Comics" is artwork by Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff, the owner and operator of FugScreens Studios. Tasseff-Elenkoff specializes in commissioned gig posters and personally designed fine art prints. His fascination with color and form is expressed through his highly individualistic style. Tasseff-Elenkoff's work is acclaimed at an international level for his ability to impact and communicate with a varied audience. Tasseff-Elenkoff's latest endeavor is the opening of Galerie F, Chicago's latest art gallery and retail shop with an emphasis on printmaking and street art.

In 2012 alone, FugScreens has been represented around Chicago at Black Cloud Gallery, Maxwell Colette Gallery, I Am Logan Square, Chicago Journeyman Plumber's Union, and Strange Beauty Salon, as well as shows in Liverpool and London.

Please join us Saturday, September 15th from 6-9pm for the opening of "Fug Comics." Enjoy a great night of fine poster art, drink cool beverages from Finch's Beer Co. & Cellar Rat, and enjoy food provided by saki. This event is FREE.

Galerie F Kickstarter & Fundraiser @ Cole's!

If you asked us to name things we really, really love, somewhere near the top of the list would be Fugscreens, Bigcolour, FREE PIZZA & Cole's. So, you shouldn't be surprised that we want you to join us at the Galerie F Fundraiser on 4/9 @ Cole's featuring Bigcolour, Rodeo, Continental Breakfast & FREE PIZZA from Piece Pizza & Brewery! For the record, Continental Breakfast is a band & FREE PIZZA is just pizza that is free... don't get it twisted.

This event is a fundraiser to promote Fugscreens new gallery - the aptly named, Galerie F - opening in Logan Square. They've also got a Kickstarter page, which you can donate to directly on the night of the fundraiser via iPad.... because this is the future.
